MONTSERRAT TYPE POSTER
This poster design was created for my Typography Tools class in the fall of 2019. The assignment asked us to pick a typeface and design a poster that included its name, designer, alphabet set, number set and select symbols. I chose Montserrat, a geometric sans-serif typeface by Argentinian designer Julieta Ulanovsky. Ulanovsky was inspired by the signage in her historic Buenos Aires neighborhood. I created a pattern with triangular glyphs and masked them with a gold foil texture to create an urban industrial aesthetic. I let this pattern dominate the poster, using subtle drop shadows and variations in color to create a depth similar to certain signage. I sought to represent Montserrat's application to the municipal and industrial realm through form, texture and color.
